The traditional Hawley retainer, which comes with "C" clasps, is the most popular design. However, various clasp options are available, including Adams, Ball, Arrow, and Delta clasps.

The Super Modified Spring Hawley has a helix on the distal aspect of the lingual band of acrylic. This gives the clinician more torque control as well as rotational force.
