What are the different types of indirect bonding services?

The answer

We offer two.

Traditional IDB. Brackets are placed digitally using our software, then transferred onto printed models with a light-cure adhesive, which creates a custom base on each bracket. You get a two-tray system and can use the adhesive of your choice. Because the custom base is already shaped to the tooth, only a small amount of adhesive is needed at the chair, which means less flash around the bracket bases.

3DiB. Brackets are placed digitally using the same software, but the trays are 3D printed and the brackets sit directly in the printed tray. The bracket bases stay clean rather than being custom-shaped, so the clinical bonding steps differ.

Hand-placed indirect bonding. Our indirect bonding team places the brackets by hand, without using the software. The tray is the same one supplied with Traditional IDB rather than a printed tray.

With both digital options, we send the case back for you to review and adjust bracket placement before anything is fabricated, so you’re checking placement without the pressure of maintaining clinical isolation. We only fabricate once you approve.
