What do I need to send for a Herbst, MARA or X-Bow case?

The answer

Please provide both upper and lower arches with complete anterior and posterior anatomy clearly captured. If the appliance includes palatal accessories, such as an expansion mechanism, be sure to capture the full palatal anatomy as well.

Spacers may be placed after the scan or impression is taken.

For Herbst appliances, we typically position the mechanism end-to-end for Class II and Division II patients and in a Class I molar relationship for Division I patients. If you provide a wax bite or positioning lines on the model, we’ll follow those instructions instead. Patients will not be advanced more than 6 mm unless otherwise requested.
